CGF BRAND AMBASSADOR: SOGAND ZAKERHAGHIGH

You're officially a brand ambassador for the CGF movement. What was the process like for you?

The process to becoming an official brand ambassador for the CGF movement was insightful. It really caused me to look within.  I was to highlight my strengths as well as identify the weaknesses that I wanted to build on. I'm all for self-awareness and being a part of the CGF team has inspired me to keep pushing to understand myself better. It's been a beautiful time of self-acceptance and self-love and I'm SO happy I joined this empowering movement.

When did you realize that you were a curvy girl? Did you naturally embrace it?

I realized that I was a curvy girl about two years ago. I have been embracing it ever since. What caused me to really appreciate my figure was fitness. The more time I spent on improving my physique, the more I fell in love with what I saw. Allowing for self-care enabled me to stop comparing my body to other women because I was focusing all of my energy on bettering myself. I have been on a high ever since.

How do you feel about the plus size community right now?

I feel that there is lots of good in the plus size community. There is a push for self-love and this push is so necessary. It's essential to our society to have women thinking healthy thoughts about themselves. Too often, women hate what they have going on inside of themselves and they project that negativity outwards also. I'm honored to be a part of a movement that seeks to educate on self-care. I'm flattered to be a part of a team that wants women to love themselves - genuinely love themselves. This being said, I would like to see more diversity in the plus size community. Intersectionality is an asset to overcoming the barriers that hinder women in the plus size community from blossoming. This is a big reason why being a CGF brand ambassador is so meaningful to me. I take pride knowing I'm the only Muslim female here. I look towards other fellow CGF ambassadors and I love what I see. We all come from different walks of life and are united under the banner of self-appreciation. Movements such as CGF are crucial to flourish the plus size community.

What's your favorite thing about being a CGF brand ambassador?

Ah, this is tough. I think it's the women that are working with me. I'm surrounded by an amazing group of gorgeous, humble, successful women and it motivates me to carry on. There are no judgements here, no shade. Just pure inspiration and ambition. These ladies are such blessings and I'm so happy I met them through CGF.

Where do you see yourself within the next five years?

I see myself being a practicing Psychologist. I would still be working towards perfecting my fitness game and I would be looking for ways to inspire others to do the same. I would also be partaking in social justice activities and engaging in public speaking arrangements as they are my hobbies. Finally, I see myself being a part of CGF's bright future.
