CGF BRAND AMBASSADOR: LINDSEYHow has your Curvy Girl Fever experience been so far?
It's been really amazing. I honestly had no idea at all what to expect, but it's really like being a part of a sisterhood. Too often women spend time tearing each other down, but this group is nothing but positivity. I feel really blessed to have been selected; it's been a very special experience.
What made you want to become such a strong advocate for curvy women?
I never really set out to be an advocate, but as I started to gain confidence, I started to realize just how cruel the world can be to women who not a perfect size 4. I've always been an outspoken, brash, sassypants, so it feels good to channel that into something positive.
What are some tips you can give to women struggling with their self love journey?
Start slowly. Focus on one or two things you love about yourself and force the things you don't into the periphery. Don't compare yourself to anyone, especially those on social media because it's just a small glimpse into a persons life. Live your own authentic life and know that we all bring a lot of beauty to the table. I really believe that.
If you could change anything about the CGF brand ambassador program what would it be?
I wish we could all meet in person more!!!!
How did you come with the fatgirlblonde movement?
I was cropping myself in a lot of pics to just show my face, and I started thinking how ridiculous that was. I started the page just to find my own confidence, but it kicked into high-gear when a guy at a bar told me I was 'as big as a house' to be cruel. I thought 'Eff this guy! I'm rad!' I should thank him. His nasty words have catapulted me into the most self-love I've ever felt! I use the word fat in my screenname because I wanted to take the negativity associated with the word and make it positive for me. There's something really empowering about owning who you are. I mean--I am fat! But I'm also smart, confident, successful, loving, beautiful!
